Turned Lights

Why

These lights explored how 3D printing fabrication processes, combination of materials, and proportions of parts, can create a modern lighting piece.

What

This is a series of 5 pendant lights in walnut, ash, and red cedar with 3D printed PLA light shades, LED bulbs, and rope cords.

How

The shades were 3D printed using vase mode, which uses a corkscrew motion to achieve a seamless and subtly textured surface.

The bases were turned on the wood lathe, holes bored on the drill press, finished with master gel, and wired with lighting components.
